| New Triathlon Team Features Ironman Champions |
|
The word is out on a powerhouse new triathlon team featuring Chris McCormack   , Rasmus Henning, Philip Graves, Jordan Rapp (pictured at Ford Ironman Arizona), Desiree Ficker and Peter Reid. If that team sounds impressive on the long distance front, imagine what it’s like for the ITU world to know that Simon Whitfield and Javier Gomez will be competing on the same team this season. All these athletes will be part of Specialized’s first ever comprehensive triathlon team that is, in a word, stacked. Chris “Macca” McCormack, the 2007 Ford Ironman World Champion and 1997 ITU World Champion will be racing this weekend at Ironman China. Reid, of course, is a three-time Kona champion. Desiree Ficker, was the 2008 Ironman South Africa 70.3 champ and has a runner-up Kona finish on her resume. They are joined by Jordan Rapp, who won Subaru Ironman Canada and Ford Ironman Arizona last year, smashing the bike course record in Tempe. Philip Graves, is one of the United Kingdom’s top time trialists and the youngest ever Ironman Champion (at just 20 years old) after winning Ironnman UK last August. Rasmus Henning made an impressive Ironman debut after an accomplished ITU career with his win in China and fifth place finish at the Ford Ironman World Championship last year, despite breaking his wrist two weeks prior to the Kona event. Joining Whitfield and Gomez on the ITU team will be Lisa Norden Gavin Noble, while the Specialized XTERRA team will include Conrad “The Caveman” Stoltz, Dan Hugo and Melanie McQuaid.
