In the past few years compression pants, shirts and socks have become an intricate part of the triathlon world.  Some compression items are made for training and others are classified as recovery.

SLS sent me a pair of their SLS3 Compression Socks to test.  To make the test as fair as possible I compared them to two popular compression sock and calf guard manufacturers that I have been using for the past year and a half.

During this test I quickly noticed three important factors: I didn't feel excessive hot spots on the bottoms of my feet, my lower leg area didn't overheat and they did not compromise mobility while offering added muscle stability. The fabric seemed to assist in wicking away sweat which has the potential for moisture related blistering. The tension of the compression sock felt very comfortable allowing my muscles to work and move freely.

Another test comparison I conducted between my original compression socks and calf guard to the SLS2 compression socks was how they preformed under the wetsuit.  As you can imagine, trying to put on compression socks or calf guards in transition, either from swim to bike or bike to run, can be a tedious task.  A lot of athletes, including myself, will wear them under their wetsuits. The bad thing about doing that is your legs or feet can stay wet, so a material that can dry quickly is important. The SLS3 compression sock did not hold water for a long period of time. They dried off very fast.

To wrap things up I am very impressed with this product. The SLS3 compression socks are comfortable, give added muscle stability, offer positive air flow, can be used for both training and recovery and they are priced right.
